Dear Community,
A few World Cup matches ago we were attending the Natural Capital Symposium alongside many of you. We are grateful for everyone who was able to attend, participate, and connect with us. It was truly an energizing and inspiring three days of sharing stories and learning from one another. This particular Symposium was exciting for the NatCap software team because it was the first time we held the InVEST Contributor Track: a series of sessions focused on the software, modeling, and data that support ecosystem services and natural capital approaches.
We shared the latest developments in the InVEST open-source ecosystem, like the launch of the InVEST Plugin Registry (more soon!), and new ways to contribute to and help shape the direction of InVEST (check out our new InVEST landing page!). We also heard nine contributed talks ranging from adapting an InVEST calibration tool as a plugin to developing AI decision-support tools for conservation planning.
We were cautiously optimistic that there would be an audience for this new track and we were blown away by the turn out and it being standing room only at the end of the day. A large part of that interest and success comes from those who participated and presented in those sessions. Thank you to everyone who presented, attended, and who participates in this community.
