New to InVEST: Analysing fishery resources/biomass?

Hi.

We are totally new to InVEST. Right now we’re running into a problem: We can’t find the model we want to estimate the fishery resources/biomass.

Is there such a model in InVEST?

No, i’m sorry to say that we don’t currently provide a fisheries model. We did have one years ago, but stopped supporting it for a variety of reasons. Hopefully you will find a model elsewhere that suits your needs.

I’m a bit curious about that said abandoned model. Is the model a production-ready model or it’s just a Proof-of-Concept? We’re willing to check it out anyway if it can work correctly.

We had two models that were part of the official InVEST suite, both of which were deprecated in 2022 (as of InVEST 3.10.0). Here are the Changelog entries:

Fisheries and Fisheries HST

  • The Fisheries models were deprecated due to lack of use, lack of scientific support staff, and maintenance costs.

Finfish

  • The Finfish model was deprecated due to lack of use, lack of scientific support staff, and maintenance costs.

We do provide our older releases for download, so you could check out InVEST version 3.9.2 if you want to see how the Fisheries model worked (sample data is also provided), read its User Guide chapter etc. With a lot of caveats about this version being quite old, and that we are not currently providing any support for these models.
