How to format the Threats Table for Habitat Quality Model

Dear all,

I am currently using the Habitat Quality model in InVEST and have two questions regarding the software:

  1. Adding Multiple Threat Rasters:
In the InVEST documentation, it mentions that we can add multiple raster datasets as threats to the model. However, in the latest version of the software, I noticed that there is no option to add a folder containing raster layers directly. Instead, the “Threat Table” interface now requires a CSV file. Could you clarify how I can include multiple threat rasters (e.g., roads, wildfire, etc.) in the model using this CSV format?

  2. Reliable Sources for Timber Harvesting Data:
I am working on the forested lands of the U.S. and am looking for reliable sources of data on forest harvesting activities (such as timber extraction) that could be used as a threat layer in my analysis. Do you know of any datasets or resources in the U.S. that provide such information?

I would appreciate any guidance or suggestions you might have on these topics.

Best regards,
Hazhir

Hi @hkarimi -

The User Guide Data Needs section for Habitat Quality describes the threat table and provides an example. The sample data that you can download through the 3-bar menu in Workbench also has an example threats table that you can use as a template.

I haven’t worked with timber harvesting so don’t have any advice there, but hopefully someone else does.

Hi @hkarimi,

The Forest Service shares some data related to timber harvests through the Enterprise Data Warehouse (on the FSGeodata Clearinghouse): USDA Forest Service FSGeodata Clearinghouse - Download National Datasets

The second item on this list might be what you’re looking for.

Hi Stacie and @csimpson

Thank you very much for your replies and valuable information. These are very helpful.
