# InVEST carbon storage units

Hi everyone  
I am currently using Invest software to analyse carbon storage and sequestration on a large scale. I am confused about the unit convention in the software. My land use rasters are in 30 m pixel form In what form should i give input of carbon storage per class? As per the literature, the carbon stock per class is given in MG per hectare. I need a comprehensive understanding of units in output and input.

The InVEST User Guide Carbon chapter has [a Data Needs section](https://storage.googleapis.com/releases.naturalcapitalproject.org/invest-userguide/latest/en/carbonstorage.html#data-needs) detailing the required inputs and outputs. You can also look at [the sample data](https://storage.googleapis.com/releases.naturalcapitalproject.org/invest-userguide/latest/en/getting_started.html#using-sample-data) that we provide for an example of the formatting.
