# How can I get reference evapotranspiration for the recent years (2020)?

Welcome to the forum, @Eshetu -

I’m not aware of any already-prepared reference evapotranspiration data for recent years. They may exist, but I haven’t spent a lot of time looking recently. It does seem strange that there aren’t more up-to-date ET datasets.

But if you have precipitation and temperature data from the years 2000-2020 (which are easier to find), you can calculate reference ET yourself using the Modified Hargreaves equation, or a different ET equation, [as described in the User Guide](https://storage.googleapis.com/releases.naturalcapitalproject.org/invest-userguide/latest/en/data_sources.html#et0).

One place that has a useful search for ET and/or precipitation data is the [NCAR Climate Data Guide](https://climatedataguide.ucar.edu/climate-data), so you can try there too.
